چکیده
Multi-hydrogenated compounds detection based on photoacoustic (PA) spectroscopy is reported. Three near-infrared semiconductor lasers are used with a resonant PA cell operated in its first longitudinal mode to monitor methane, water vapour and hydrogen chloride in the parts per million range. The design of our cell results from simulations performed in order to optimise its performances. Influence of the buffer gas on the PA signal has also been analysed, both theoretically and experimentally. A reduction of the PA signal of almost one order of magnitude has been observed between N(2) and He, which demonstrates the importance of the buffer gas in PA spectroscopy. Finally, detection limits of 0.5 ppm of CH(4) and 3 ppm of HCl has been achieved experimentally in nitrogen and an H(2)O sensitivity of 0.2 ppm has been estimated.

Sub-ppm multi gas sensing based on photoacoustic spectroscopy using DFB laser diodes
Sensitive photoacoustic detection of methane (CH4), hydrogen chloride (HCl) and water vapour (H2O) in the near-infrared range using semiconductor DFB lasers is reported. A detection limit of 0.17 ppm of CH4, 0.2 ppm of HCl and 0.024 ppm of H2O (signal-to-noise ratio = 3) is reached using a properly designed photoacoustic cell operating in its first longitudinal mode.
متن کاملApplication of a widely electrically tunable diode laser to chemical gas sensing with quartz-enhanced photoacoustic spectroscopy.
A near-infrared diode laser with sample-grating distributed Bragg reflectors was used as a widely tunable spectroscopic source for multispecies chemical sensing. Quartz-enhanced photoacoustic spectroscopy was utilized to obtain high absorption sensitivity in a compact gas cell. CO2, H2O C2H2, and NH3 were monitored. A noise equivalent sensitivity of 8 x 10(-9) cm(-1) W(-1) Hz(-1/2)for NH3 detec...

متن کاملMulti-species gas sensing using monolithic widely tuneable laser diodes
Widely tuneable laser diodes operating in the 1520 ≤ λ ≤ 1570 nm are characterised and compared for use as sources for tuneable laser diode gas absorption spectroscopy. Three gases hydrogen cyanide, ammonia and acetylene with overlapping absorption features within the 50 nm tuning range of the devices were targeted employing wavelength modulation spectroscopy with second harmonic detection.

A photoacoustic multi-gas sensor using tuneable laser diodes in the near-infrared region is reported. An optimized resonant configuration based on an acoustic longitudinal mode is described. Automatic tracking of the acoustic resonance frequency using a piezo-electric transducer and a servo electronics is demonstrated. Water vapour, methane and hydrogen chloride have been measured at sub-ppm le...
